  • CAPÍTULO 03 - SAÚDE MENTAL NO PUERPÉRIO: A ATUAÇÃO MULTIPROFISSIONAL FRENTE À DEPRESSÃO PÓS-PARTO

ABSTRACT:
Introduction: The postpartum period entails profound physical, emotional, and social transformations, which may contribute to the onset of postpartum depression. This condition has a multifactorial etiology and carries repercussions that affect both maternal quality of life and child development. Given this, continuous monitoring and a multidisciplinary approach are essential. Objective: To analyze, through an integrative literature review, the care strategies and interventions developed by multidisciplinary teams for the prevention and management of postpartum depression in women during the puerperium. Methodology: This is an integrative literature review conducted using the MEDLINE and LILACS databases. Articles published between 2021 and 2026 in Portuguese, English, or Spanish that were directly related to the proposed topic were included. Following the application of eligibility criteria, 10 studies were selected for inclusion in the analysis. Results and Discussion: The findings indicate a high perinatal prevalence of depression and anxiety, influenced by socioeconomic disparities, a lack of robust social support, stress, and a history of psychological distress. Symptoms often persist or emerge later in the postpartum period—with a significant proportion of new cases—underscoring the need for longitudinal, continuous monitoring throughout the pregnancy and postpartum cycle. Regular, guided physical activity—such as aerobic exercise or yoga—emerges as a promising non-pharmacological strategy for reducing symptoms and perceived stress. Finally, it is clear that screening alone is insufficient, given barriers such as social stigma and low adherence to referrals; therefore, psychosocial support and an integrated, multidisciplinary approach—featuring personalized interventions—are essential to ensuring the continuity of care. Final Considerations: It is concluded that a continuous and humanized multiprofessional approach serves as the fundamental pillar for implementing personalized interventions, strengthening maternal autonomy, and ensuring the comprehensive protection of the mother-child dyad.
