ABSTRACT:
Objective: To identify the most common post-anesthetic complications occurring in the Surgical Center. Methodology: This is an integrative review of the literature. It was possible to structure the following guiding question: “What are the most prevalent post-anesthetic complications in the surgical center?” A survey was carried out through the electronic library, the Virtual Health Library, and the following databases were selected: Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences, Spanish Bibliographic Index of Health Sciences and Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online. With this, the descriptors consulted in the Descriptors in Science and Health, in the month of October 2023, were used, being: “Postoperative complications”, “Surgical Center” and “Anesthesia”, using the boolean operator AND between the descriptors when combined . After applying the eligibility criteria, a total of nine selected articles were used. Results and Discussion: Furthermore, the risk of post-anesthetic complications is correlated with the duration of anesthesia consisting of a wide range of procedures and specialty surgery and is independent of most other surgical variables. Various discomforts arise after the operation performed under general anesthesia including sore throat, nausea, vomiting, pain, insomnia, thirst, constipation, flatulence and swelling around the incision. Final Considerations: It is important to highlight the relevance of this type of knowledge so that the multidisciplinary team can outline strategies to reduce post-anesthetic complications in the CC by implementing preventive measures and promoting well-being for patients.
