ABSTRACT:
Objective: To identify maternal feelings when dealing with premature children in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Methodology: This is a research with a qualitative approach, descriptive in nature, aimed at the development of the investigation. The research was carried out at the Follow-up outpatient clinic in Montes Claros, Minas Gerais. For data collection, a semi-structured interview was used, where the responses were recorded and transcribed for data analysis. In order for the results to be achieved, the content analysis technique was used. The project was approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the Brazilian Educational Association with opinion number 2,187,516. Results and Discussion: The mothers exposed their feelings in an open and comprehensive way, demonstrating their feelings through verbalization and body language. Final Considerations: This study is relevant through the researchers' immersion in the feelings that surround mothers of premature children. These feelings directly influence the care of the hospitalized mother and child.
